I've been doing a little enameling again lately. I love enameling, but it got ignored a bit with the summer heat & holiday "make finished pieces to sell" push. I'm coming back to enameling with a new mind set, too. Well, a new mindset and a plan.
See, when I enameled before, I thought it was fun, but very frustrating. Kinda like when I learned photography. I'd see the photo in my head, take the picture, and it was totally NOT what I envisioned. With enameling, I'd chose the colors, enamel the piece, and when it didn't come out of the kiln how I imagined it, felt frustrated and disappointed. Which doesn't exactly foster a spirit of creativity. So I decided to turn things around, to come to it with the attitude that I'm MAKING something - it doesn't have to be perfect, or exactly what I envisioned. I'm not a failure if I can't get it to behave how I want. After all, this is supposed to be FUN, right?
For example, this piece was enameled with a yellow opaque base and blue transparent top coat.
Yeah, not blue OR yellow, huh. At first, the old "why didn't it come out how I planned, what am I doing wrooooong" started up, but I snuffed it. I thought instead, "hey, kinda surprising, but pretty in its own way." Looking at it as a creative adventure rather than an end result.
So I continued on with the morning
And got some neat pieces!

Pretties from Radiant Mind
I got some gorgeous beads from Radiant Mind. I can't stop looking at them!
These are teeeeeeny and so cute. I'm thinking about putting them at the end of fine chain for earrings.
I just want to stare at these all day.
More teeeeeny cuties. Love that color!

I know I've been a bit holiday-AWOL lately, but I wanted to send a very big THANK YOU for everyone who followed my blog this year, commented, read my posts, bought from my shop, hosted blog hops, posted about their own beady goings-ons, and generally made me feel like a part of a great big beady community. I have to say that having a blog and really focusing on the Etsy shop this year has been an even bigger joy than I ever could have imagined.
Now enough mush -- commence eggnog sipping, jewelry making, and bead buying (or peeking at presents under the tree - whatever works!)

I love Pantone - color, color, color!
I love the 2011 Color of the Year - Honeysuckle. Or, as I call it, Supah-PINK! Wow. That is quite a pink they got there. Its a little darker than hot pink, it look like. I love it.

In other news, I also saw on the Pantone site that you can get a Pantone Visa.
Um, okay? I'll take a Pantone coffee cup, but the Visa seems a bit much, in my humble opinion.

I'm a total Silver Parrot bead stalker, because whenever she posts about someone on her blog, I swear, I run right out and buy from them. It's not my fault she posts about such great sellers, is it?
This time it was with Bead and Ribbon.
I got the COOLEST Czech glass from them. Check it out
Pretty sweet, eh!

Craft fair today went GREAT and was a lot of fun!
I just want to give a shout out to my new craft-y buddy at Crafty Tagz, who had the most adorable pet collars. Check some of these out. My houseplants don't need collars (they are VERY well trained), but I know a lot of my bead buddies have furry friends, so I wanted to pass it along. How CUTE are these holiday collars...

Hi all,
Soooo, I think it is apparent I get an F in blog hop. :( This month has been so stressful! But, I just remind myself that everyone is stressed out this time of year and I try to get over myself.
Although my pity party did result in some bead shopping (pictures to come...I promise Silver Parrot!)
AND, tomorrow is my birthday (formally known as National Amy Day)! I weaseled my husband's presents out of him tonight and he got me these Danskos (love them!)
AND he got me trapeze lessons! off my bucket list! I get to swing on the flying trapeze! I'm so excited (can't you tell by the exuberant punctuation)
Tomorrow is also my first craft show ever - wish me luck!
